After a nice two-month holiday, The China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) is roaring back into the Shanghai International Circuit (SIC) with engines revving this weekend (Sept 17-18th). The promoters, teams and drivers are already arrived at Shanghai, getting ready for the 5th round of the CTCC season. Changan Ford Racing Team won race 4 in Ordos so the team is confident and will drive hard to win another one in Shanghai.
As a result of the excess weight penalty, Andy Yan only managed to get a 6th finish in race 4 in Ordos two months ago. But his 66 points on the drivers’ point table, is only a small 5-point gap with the leader. In race 5, 60kg will be taken off from his car, so he is very optimistic that he will stand on the podium again.
Rainey He, a past winner of the SIC race, has won three pole positions for the team this year, is also confident that he can maintain his good speed and performance in this race. Jiang Tengyi , who won a pole position last year in SIC with the time 1’23.157, is also bully about his chance in this race. They also have 58 points and 47 points, occupied 3rd and 4th position respectively. This time, they may have a friendly but fierce competition for the pole position. Another young driver Fan Gao Xiang, although is behind his team member from the point of view of points gained, but after his 3rd place finish in Ordos, he said now he has more confidence than any other time and will try his best to take one place on the podium again.
Team result has always been the most important objective for the Changan Ford Racing Team. At this moment, the team is 55 points ahead from the second team. John Ling, Changan Ford Racing Team manager indicated that; “During this two-month holiday, the engineering team, using the race data gained in the last few races, has upgraded the electronic system of all the cars, in order to maximize the car performance to counter the busy schedule for the next few races. Drivers also had training during these two months, to keep up their physical and racing skill to win the races in the rest of the season. We are ready to fight again.”
