Sep 24th, 2010, China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) had its' 5th event at the newly constructed Ordos International Circuit (OIC). Qinghua Ma from Beijing Hyundai captured the 1600cc winner, while Tengyi Jiang from Changan Ford Racing team clinched the top spot of the podium at 2000cc class. Changan Ford and Beijing Hyundai won the manufacture cup of their own class.
It was CTCC’s first event in Inner Mongolia. The event brought not only exciting performance to Ordos, but also an era of Mortorsport.
1600cc: highlight on the new face
After 4 wet races in a row, CTCC finally got rid of the rain spell in race 5 and the 1600cc race was started under sunny weather.
Pole sitter Qinghua Ma, the CTCC new face from Beijing Hyundai, managed to lead the race from the very beginning. BJ Hyundai seemed in real good shape this week and took home double wins.
Han Han, from Shanghai VW 333 racing team, reserved a spot on the podium after successfully overtaking Jincun Wan. Rui Wang ran off the track and retired in lap 10.
Zheng Sun, the young gun sent by DF-KIA 778, settled for a convincing 4th.
2000cc: Another winner trophy for Tengyi Jiang
The competition in 2000cc was rather fires as Martin Cao, the youngest driver in 2000cc, was forced to run off the track at lap 1, causing yellow flag and safety car. Shaofeng Wang, who started from pole, ran off and retired in lap 9.
Tengyi Jiang from Changan Ford Racing team, who started from the front row, won the race in the end, and contributed to the team’s winner trophy. Michael Ho and Billy Zeng from Hua Yang racing team captured 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Lo Ka Chun from DF-KIA 778 was 4th.
Commercial Area, another hot spot of the week
Volkswagen Scirocco Cup China, Changan Ford, YOKOHAMA tyre, Red Bull, etc came to Ordos with CTCC, bringing the fans interesting live shows and experiencing games.
The Ordos International Circuit, with its’ unique style and interesting track design, gave the teams and drivers a remarkable race week and set a good start for motorsport in South-West China.
The next event will travel to Beijing in early October.
