The team did an impressive work in R1 so all four drivers had to carry additional around 135Kg against our opponents this time. The team decided to work on an early attack strategy. Drivers were told to move out to the pit lane to take the front positions. Everything worked according to the plan: Rainey He and Andy Yan were the only two drivers broke the 1:48 barrier in Lap 1, Tengyi Jiang and Gaoxiang Fan were followed up. However, the race had to be restarted after one car spun out and caused a red flag. After the restart, Han Han who was driving the VW Polo which with a new engine, snatched the pole by winning 0.16 second from Andy Yan.
In the press conference, Rainey He indicated: ““It was a good qualifying session. But with the additional weight, the brake was affected. And racing in Zhuhai International Circuit which required better brake system, it made the qualifying tougher. Even we all changed into new tire after the stop, hopping to get the first place back, the objective factors block our way to the pole position. The time between us was different around 0.1 second, I am sure tomorrow will be a rat race.”
