Sauber will test with Robin Frijns, Nico Hulkenberg and newcomer Kimiya Sato at next week’s Silverstone young driver session. The test, which has been opened up to race drivers to allow for trials with Pirelli’s new tyres, takes place on July 17-19 at the British Grand Prix circuit.
Frijns became test and reserve driver for Sauber earlier this year, and it will be the 21-year-old Dutchman’s second young driver test with the team. The 2012 Formula Renault 3.5 World Series champion is competing in the 2013 GP2 Series, where he is currently ninth in the standings.
For Sato, the UK test will be his first experience of a Formula One car. The 23-year-old Japanese, who brings experience from series like Formula BMW, Japanese and German Formula Three, and the Formula Three Euro Series, currently leads the 2013 Auto GP World Series.
Frijns will test all day Wednesday and on Thursday morning, with Hulkenberg taking over on Thursday afternoon. Sato will then get a full day in the car on Friday.
