Darryl O'Young is gearing himself up for his WTCC home events at Shanghai and Macau. Saturday the Honk Kong driver claimed a brilliant victory on the Shanghai International Circuit as a guest competitor in the Audi R8 LMS China Cup.
The weekend started off well for O'Young who was making his series debut, as he claimed pole position followed by a lights to flag victory in Race 1. It was a nearly perfect weekend for O'Young who set the fastest lap and led race 2 until lap 9, when a puncture from debris on the circuit forced him to retire.
"It was great preparation for me to compete in the Audi LMS Cup ahead of the WTCC Race of China. I haven't driven on the Shanghai F1 circuit this year, so it was really nice to have some track time before getting behind the wheel of my bamboo-engineering Chevrolet Cruze. I'm really looking forward to the races in Shanghai and Macau and I want to get the maximum performance out of myself at my two home races," O’Young said.
