Shanghai VW 333 Racing driver Wang Rue has claimed pole position for the the eighth and final round of the 2012 CTCC, with Lo Ka Chun of Kia 778 Autosport and Jiang Tengyi from Chang'an Ford FRD Team qualifying second and third.
The qualifying session was briefly interrupted after Michael Soong spun off in his Kia 778 Autosport Forte, equipped with the older two-litre normally aspirated engine.
Wang Rue set his best lap of 1:59.150 during the second part of qualifying, whilst team-mate Han Han, who's the only Volkswagen driver in contention for the championship and who won the China Rally Championship last week, qualified in fourth.
Lo Ka Chun in the all new Kia K2, equipped with a brand new 1.6 litre turbocharged engine, qualified in second place, just one-thousandth of a second off of Rue's time. Jiang Tengyi was the top qualifying Ford driver in third, just 0.048 behind Rue's time.
The brand new Honda Spirior of Li Zhi Cong, running with a normally aspirated two-litre engine, qualified in 13th place on the 16 car grid, ahead of the three normally aspirated Kia Fortes.
The CTCC Super Production race will be held at 13:22 on Sunday.
