CTCC Zhaoqing, Haima Team First Won the Manufacturer Cup

On August 28th, Finals of the Fifth Station of 2016 SINOPEC Lubrication China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) started at Guangdong International Circuit.

In the Super 2.0T Cup, Wang Risheng won the champion in the first round; Zhen Zhuowei and Cao Hongwei from Chang’an Ford Team won the champion and runner-up respectively in the second round. In the Super 1.6T Cup, the champion of the first round was owned by Xie Xinzhe from Dongfeng Honda Team and that of the second round was gained by Ye Hongli from Dongfeng Yueda KIA Team. In terms of the China Cup, Guangzhou Toyota YARiS L Zhixuan Team won both two rounds: their drivers Liu Yifeng and Ye Junhui won the champions of the two rounds respectively.

Grandstand Thronged with Viewers, Air Intensified by Red-pocket

Although there was a summer break period for a month, the enthusiasm of competitors and audiences was still wandering around the stadium. The audiences were so looking forward to this championship that they almost occupied all the seats and their passion touched CTCC. Also, the world champion Hoff came to the track to watch the game as well as interacting with the audiences in the field to breathe the hot air of China racing match. Meanwhile, the lively atmosphere was constantly boiling when the game of grabbing red pockets started.

Super 2.0T Cup, the Newly Emerging Guarantee for Box Office

20 new racing cars appeared in the field of Super 2.0T Cup, due to Haima M6 Team’s upgrading to group. Since it’s already the second season, the competition kept mounting; the club teams and new manufacture teams would stand a chance fighting for champion because the great Chang’an Ford and the Shanghai Volkswagen teams were both stressed out. Throughout the whole weekend, the Super Cup was so intense that a fierce fight seemed to occur in the track any minute, just like that in the past China Cup. As more and more firms joined the furious race of  Super 2.0T Cup, it gradually became the backbone of the CTCC box office.

Haima Team’s First Champion at Manufacturer Cup, Chang’an Ford’s Counterattack

Although Wang Risheng from Jiekai Team realized his dream of “Pole to win” in the first round, the Haima M6 Team who entered the Super 2.0T Cup for the first time seemed to be even better: they got the first Manufacturer Cup champion of Super Cup with Ralph’s runner-up and Chenxu’s fifth place in the first round. Looking at the history, it was at Zhuhai Station in 2013 that Haima M6 Team previously won the Manufacturer Cup champion, where the Haima Automobile competed at Zhuhai Station as the China cup.

After the absence in 2014 season, Haima M6 Team finally returned to CTCC in 2015 and was classified as Super 1.6T Cup. Then, through one and a half year’s development, they launched the brand new 2.0T racing car and this new team won the Manufacturer Cup champion at the first game. The new 2.0T racing team, so to speak, continued its team’s glory. According to Ralph Thomas after the match, the Haima M6 Team got a strong ability and potential and he really expected to win the substation champion in the following races.

In the second round of finals in the afternoon, Chang’an Ford Team stunned the stadium. During the last circle, Wang Risheng, the driver of the leading Team of Jiekai, dropped out of race with the safety car ahead and Zhen Zhuowei and Cao Hongwei thus won the champion and runner-up. Lu Jiajun from Shanghai Volkswagen 333 team scored highest in his team. What’s worthy paying attention to was that Zhu Daiwei from BAIC Senova Team once squashed into the top four, though he unfortunately wound up dropping out match without a breakthrough.

Honda and KIA Take Turns to Reach the Peak, Ye Hongli Won First Victory in this Season

In the competition held at this station, two large motor manufacturers Honda and KIA of Group 1.6T of Super Cup were fine matches. They successively won the Manufacturer Cup in two rounds. Honda showed due speed in the first round. Although the racing car of Xie Xinzhe reached the peak height, he chose to start the car guided by inverted departure rules and finally took the lead in the whole journey.

In the second round, Ye Hongli won his first championship cup at this station in this season. After passing four poles in five stations, he finally won the victory. After competition held in Korea station was over, drivers of Dongfeng Yueda Kia team showed perfect cooperation and won a big victory. They continued to take the lead on the scoreboard and expanded their advantages.

At present, annual competition between Xie Xinzhe and Zhang Zhiqiang for the champion has already heated up. However, they still need to compete in the next six rounds in the second half of this season. Theoretically, drivers ranking Top 5 of the scoreboard had the chance to compete for the championship.

China Cup: Best Promotion Platform for Drivers

Competition of China Cup team attracts much attention as usual. Wonderful performance of drivers Zhang Hanbiao and Yang Xi of Invincible Team of Beijing Hyundai helped them win the championship of Manufacturer Cup in two rounds. YARiS L Zhixuan Team of Guangzhou Toyota won the championship for two consecutive times at this weekend.

What’s worth attention is that the drivers, Liu Yifeng and Ye Junhui, who mounted the highest award platform, won the champion for the first time in CTCC. This means that as the rudimentary team of CTCC, Team of China Cup realized its goal of attracting more motor teams and drivers to join CTCC and grow to be the mainstay of Chinese motor sports.

CTMSA Comes to its End Smoothly

Zhang Zhiqiang and Zhong Yongqiang won the victory in the final competition in two rounds of CTMSA held on Sunday.

In the next competition, CTCC will be held in Shanghai International Circuit from September 24th to September 25th and it will simultaneously hold competitions with WTCC.
