October 23rd, 2010, the 7th event of China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) came back to Shanghai International Circuit (SIC). CTCC was again traveling with its rain spell. Rainey He from Changan Ford racing team set the best lap (1:22.700), while Liu Yang from Beijing Hyundai racing team took the 1.6 liter pole position with1:28.442.
Rainey He’s penalty pushed Tengyi Jiang to pole
The qualify started at 14:50 in the afternoon under wet condition. The track was rather slippery and the drivers had a hard time finding their pace. The session was red flagged due to Lo Xiong Biao’s accident and qualify was stopped after only 4 minutes.
The session was restarted after 7 minutes. Rainey He set 1:22.700, but his best lap got penalty and He was 4th. He’s teammate Tengyi Jiang took pole with 1:23.157. Lo Ka Chun from DF-KIA 778 qualified 3rd.
Beijing Hyundai claimed the front row
Liu Yang and Han Han, each has 32 points in their pocket, are now staying tie on the 1.6 liter points table. Xie Xing Zhe, from DF NISSAN Ghia racing team, didn’t make a lap and retired from the session.
Beijing Hyundai racing team’s drivers Liu Yang and Cui Yue managed to better their laps several times. In the end, Liu Yang set 1:28.422 to take the pole. Lin Li Feng set 1:29.405 to take 3rd, while Huang Chu Han qualified 4th. Han Han, one of the points leader, qualified only 11th.
