The 3rd event of 2010 China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) traveled to Chengdu for the first time on 27th, June. The real deal started at 13:33 sharp.
2000cc: Another double win for Changan Ford Racing team
The very competitive 2000cc class saw the Changan Ford racing team managed to continue the outstanding performance from Saturday. Pole sitter Martin Cao, the 17 year-old young gun from Changan Ford, lost 3 positions at start, yet successfully took back the lead in just 2 laps’ time. Martin Cao was the first passing the finishing line, showing again his remarkable potential.
Billy Zeng (Hua Yang racing team), who started the race from the front line, had to retire during last lap due to mechanical problems. Michael Ho, who is also from Hua Yang racing team, overtook a lot of drivers and captured 2nd. Shaofeng Wang from KIA 778, who just started his 2000cc journey not long ago, finished the race 3rd and took home his first ever 2000cc trophy.
1600cc: Rui Wang and Han Han occupied top 2 positions
The race of 1600cc started right after the opening ceremony. Although it stopped raining right before the start of the race, but the track still required rain tires.
As the red lights went off, pole sitter Chuhan Huang (Haima Z1 team) stalled during start and two cars from Shanghai VW 333 racing team took the lead. Rui Wang and Han Han managed to lead the race to the end, with Wang capturing 1st and Han 2nd.
Beijing Hyundai, the winner from Zhuhai race, captured 6th (Jincun Wan) and 7th (Chao Wang). Haisheng Guo and Zheng Sun from DF NISSAN TIIDA racing team finished the race 4th and 5th, respectively.
CTCC had its’ Chengdu race successfully finished. Changan Ford racing team outshined other teams at their home turf. Shanghai VW 333 racing team also wowed the public this weekend. The next event of CTCC will come back to this very circuit on 1st, August. Stay tuned for more from us.
