Yan led the race from the start ahead of his three Chang’an Ford FRD team-mates, whilst an accident occurred back in the field with Li Zhi Cong of DHRT colliding with Guo Hua Sheng of Kia Racing and going into the barrier. Both were out of the race and brought out the first safety car period.
The race restarted on lap five and was relatively uneventful afterwards. Volkswagen’s Wang Rue moved up into fifth place as Kenneth Look headed to the pits, putting Shanghai 333 Racing’s threeVW Polos in ifth to seventh positions.
At the front, Jiang Tengyi passed Ford team-mate Rainey He for second on lap 19.
Guo Hua Yang of Shanghai VW 333 Racing and Kenneth Look’s Chevrolet came together on lap 24, but were able to finish the race.
Andy Yan won the race after leading all 24 laps ahead of his three Ford team-mates. His win moves him ahead of Wang Rue as the drivers’ championship leader with 30 pointss, with Wang now down to second on 26.
The strong result of Chang’an Ford FRD Team leads the manufacturers’ championship with 45 points, comfortably ahead of Volkswagen, Kia and Honda.
The fourth round of the CTCC will be held on July 7th at the Ordos International Circuit.
