Changan Ford Racing Team is currently testing with the 1.6L Ecoboost New Ford Focus to prepare for the CTCC R6 (September 15-16) in Guangdong International Circuit (GIC). Since the team has never ran a turbocharged car on this track, the team engineers and Andy Yan, are spending three days to work on the gearing and setting.
With 5 LH turns and 8 RH turns and a couple long straights, this 2.82km track has been very challenging for the Changan Ford Racing Team for the last few years.
“We want to have a good reference point for the 1.6T engine and its compatibility with this track and to establish a solid base line for our set-up. In R6, our car weight issue will be relieved a bit and we have to take full advantage of this and increase our competitiveness.” said John Ling, team manager.
“Because of the higher torque available, I can feel the car is working much better on the turns and combining with the solid chassis and suspension of the New Ford Focus, the racing car is quite stable on this track. I think we can do better in R6.” Andy Yan indicated. “Although I am very familiar with this track as I always run here, other competitors are all experienced; the advantage will not be very obvious.” He added.
