Round 6 of the China Touring Car Championship starts at GIC in Guangzhou International Circuit (GIC) on September 15-16. GIC is located on the outskirt of the city of Zhaoqing. Similar to the Zhuhai circuit, it demands powerful engine, good braking and well balanced set up to do well. With only three races to go, this race will be considered to be a very critical one for the teams still in the running for the team title of the year.
Since the Changan Ford Racing Team has never used a turbocharged engine on this track, the team did a three day test late August to establish a reference line for the cars.
“Preparing well has always been rule number one for our team and based on the data of the test, we have planned adjustments to the set-up for the New Ford Focus. We are very positive, motivated and looking forward to get some good result this weekend. Paul Hui, our team Director only said “Check, check, check then cheque, cheque, cheque.... I have no idea what he is talking about” said John Ling, the team manager.
“Although we have never been too successful here in GIC; Andy Yan got our best result in 1st runner-up, but we are determined to break this and try to maintain our leading position for the team title before going north to Shanghai for the last two rounds of the year.”
