Qualifying: Avila got the pole
In the qualifying session of Super Cup, Avila got the pole position by his fastest lap time 1:05.659. Morgan set a good lap time in lap 6, making him the closest rival to Avila. Cao Hongwei and Andy Yan set a faster time than Morgan by the end of the session so that they would start from the 2nd and the 3rd respectively in the sprint race afterwards. Avila was so happy to win the pole. He hope he could get a pole-to-win in the race. Cao also hoped to stay away from the chaos and manage the tyres properly to have a good race.
In the qualifying session of China Cup, Zhu Zhenyu did a great job by setting a quick lap time within the first two laps. Unfortunately, he couldn’t push further as the race car was damaged. In the end, Zheng Shangguan won the pole. Motive Racing Team’s Xie Jiaxing, Zongheng Racing Team’s Yang Xi and Wu Xiaofeng, as well as EYEE Racing Team’s Wan Jincun were all able to set a lap time within 1:17.
Super Cup: Cao Hongwei won the race
In the thrilling Super Cup sprint race, pole sitter Avila lost the lead right after the start. Cao Hongwei caught the chance and took the lead shortly, with his teammate Andy Yan behind. Cao already created a comfortable 2 seconds lead, far away from the intensive battle among the four cars behind. In the 7th lap, Avila grabbed the opportunity and was able to overtake Andy Yan. Later, Morgan also overtook Yan in the 9th lap.
China Cup: Zhu Zhenyu back home with victory
Due to the rain, the start was led by safety car. In the first lap, Zhu Chenyu overtook the pole sitter Zheng Shangguan. Wan Jincun climbed up to the 3rd in the 5th lap. As the race went by, Motive Racing Team’s Peng Lixin overtook Wan Jincun and finished the race with a podium.
The main events to be held on Sunday was cancelled due to Typhoon Ampil. See you next round in Zhejiang. Stay tuned!
