The 5^th round of China Touring Car Championship 2019 was held in Ningbo International Circuit on Sep 14 and 15. The FIA’s flag touring car championship World Touring Car Cup also joined the race weekend. In the Super Cup, Changan Ford Racing Team won the Manufacturers’ Champion of both races. Spanish driver Pepe Oriola won the 2^nd position in the race held on Saturday. On Sunday, Pepe further expanded his domination by converting the pole position to his first victory of the season, ahead of his teammate Andy Yan, while Dongfeng Yueda Kia Racing Team’s Cao Hongwei finished 3^rd. In China Cup, Xing Zhi Lu Racing Team’s Sun Anning won the race on Sunday, bringing back his second victory of the season. Zhongheng Racing Team’s Zhu Zhijie finished 2^nd. Behind him was his teammate Yang Fan. Zongheng Racing Team won the Manufacturers’ Champion of both races.

The TAG Heuer Speed Award went to Changan Ford Racing Team’ Pepe Oriola and Zongheng Racing Team’s Zhu Shijie for their fastest lap time in qualifying session of each category.

CTCC always values the collaboration with the international racing series. From WTCC to WTCR, this is the 9^th season since 2011 when CTCC and WTCC battled together for the first time. CTCC’s 2011 champion Ma Qinghua finished the 2^nd in race one of WTCR on Saturday.

Super Cup: Changan Ford Dominated the Weekend

Pepe Oriola and Andy Yan started from the front row and led the race until the end, bringing the team another Manufacturers’ Champion. In this weekend, Pepe won the pole, a 2^nd position and his first victory in CTCC. His teammate He Xiaole finished 4^th in the Sunday race. Dongfeng Yueda Kia Racing Team’s Cao Hongwei managed to save the tires and was able to overtake the rival in the last few laps. Cao finished 3rd. Dongfeng Yueda Kia Racing Team overtook SAIC Volkswagen 333 Racing Team in the standing.

China Cup: Sun Anning Won His Second Victory

In China Cup, Sun Anning surpassed Zhu Yuanjie with a wonderful start and led the way until the end of the race. In his maiden season in CTCC, Sun Anning made rapid progress and won a race in the second round. After a short period of fall back, Sun Anning once again broke through the blockade and won his second victory.

After Ningbo round, CTCC will visit the newly-built Zhuzhou International Circuit at the end of October for the 6^th round. Stay tuned!
