The fifth round of the 2012 China Touring Car Championship will be held this weekend at the Ordos International Circuit, where Ford and Volkswagen will again commence battle.
The Chang'an Ford FRD team currently leads the manufacturers? championship, and all four of their drivers, Jiang Tengyi, Andy Yan, Fan Guo Xian and Rainey He, are currently in the the top five positions of the standings. But with the ever-increasing ballast for their Ford Focuses, Team Manager John Lin says that the team may choose to concentrate their resources on one or two of their drivers in order to defend the drivers' title.
Shanghai VW 333 Racing Team have already chosen to concentrate their effort on Han Han, who won Rounds 2 and Round 4 in adverse conditions.
G Racing, in which their Chevrolet Cruze 1.6Ts, suffered from axle problems during the last race meeting , which was also held at Ordos, and will again be likely to be the only privateer team to compete with the two turbo-charged factory teams.
Kia 778 Autosport will be the only factory team, running four naturally aspirated Kia Fortes in the forthcoming round, while Summit ? S Wave Racing and ASR da Marco are expected to return the grid with their own Peugeot 307 and Chevrolet Cruze 1.6T.
Qualifying will be held at 16:00 (local time) on Saturday 18th August.
